Rescuing historic loudspeakers, preserving classic audio design, and returning iconic HiFi to its original standard.
At SoundWorks Lakes, restoring classic loudspeakers is driven by a desire to preserve acoustic history. Great Britain and the wider audio industry produced some of the most musical, characterful, and well-built loudspeakers during the golden era of HiFi.
We focus primarily on 1970s and 1980s HiFi models, alongside any classic speaker that deserves care and attention. Our goal is simple: ensure these historical designs continue to play music for decades to come, rather than fading away in disrepair.
We respect original engineering. When a vintage speaker arrives on our bench, our aim is to restore it back to how it originally performed—preserving its factory crossover topologies, cabinet structures, and original tonal balance.
While finding exact NOS (new old stock) components isn't always 100% possible due to decades of component obsolescence, we meticulously source period-accurate or spec-matched replacements to keep the original character intact. We avoid unnecessary modifications, focusing instead on period-faithful reconditioning.
Specialising in classic two-way and three-way bookshelf and floorstanding designs from British and international pioneers.
Replacing degraded foam surrounds, aged crossover capacitors, and damaged terminals while retaining factory design integrity.
Please note: we do not currently offer repair or restoration services for customer-owned speakers. The Restored Collection consists exclusively of units we independently source, restore, test, and offer for sale via our official channels.
Completed projects are listed individually on eBay with full technical notes and diagnostic details.
