SoundWorks Lakes is a small, independent speaker studio on the edge of the Lake District — designing and building every speaker from scratch, by hand.
Welcome to our studio
Everything we make is designed and built entirely in-house: from the cabinets we cut and finish, to the crossovers we hand-assemble around carefully chosen HiFi drivers. We're a father and son operation, and this project is the product of two things we both love equally — a genuine passion for great sound, and the satisfaction of making something with your own hands.
The Lake District isn't just where we happen to work. It's part of who we are. The landscape here — quiet, unhurried, and crafted over time — shapes the way we think about building. We keep our range deliberately small, expanding carefully into new audio horizons while ensuring every driver and enclosure is individually chosen for the way it sounds.
Our audio catalog
A compact 2-way standmount built around a 5-inch woofer. Punches well above its size — designed to be our most accessible bookshelf speaker without compromising on driver quality, crossover design, or cabinet build.
Named after Coniston Water, our larger bookshelf speaker built around an 8-inch woofer. Designed for bigger listening spaces with the bass extension and scale to genuinely fill a room.
Our most ambitious bookshelf speaker yet — currently in development and shrouded in a little mystery for now. More details coming soon.

True to their name, these monitors are engineered to capture absolute transparency and intricate musical detail. Built using premium acoustic elements and high-quality materials to deliver immense clarity at a modest price point that won't break the bank.

The team
We design and build every speaker by hand from our homes in Cumbria — no factory floor, no shortcuts. What started as a passion project has grown into something we're genuinely proud of.
Ben brings a background in technology and a deep love of HiFi audio. He spends his time designing crossovers, selecting drivers, and understanding what separates a speaker that measures well from one that genuinely moves you. If it can be tuned or optimised, Ben's on it.
Paul brings a lifetime of serious listening and a passion for music that keeps everything grounded in what actually matters. With years of HiFi listening behind him, Paul's ear is the final word on whether a speaker truly makes the grade.

Classic speakers from the 1980s, brought back to life — cleaned, repaired, and tested so the music sounds like it should.
Every speaker that passes through our workshop gets stripped back, assessed, and given whatever it needs — from fresh surrounds and recapped crossovers to a full cabinet respray. We only sell pieces we'd keep ourselves.
